THE CURSE OF THE HONEY BEARS

After a dismal ‘75 season, Bears owner George Halas brought "dancing girls" to the sidelines as inspired by other NFL cheer teams.

Officially founded in summer ‘76, The Honey Bears cheer team quickly became controversial as they were crowned “sex symbols” by the media and fans. After cheering the Bears to victory at Super Bowl XX, the Honey Bears were disbanded, sparking a 40-year Super Bowl drought. Forever tied to the “curse of the Honey Bears,” this summer marks 50 years of Honey Bears history.
